I saw God this weekend in the 48 hours of prayer. Being able to sit in the quiet and talk to God and truly listen to God talk to me was very powerful.

Listening to the preschoolers at Bright Start announce what they are thankful for is a true blessing in itself. They are so true with their beliefs. Being thankful for a small toy or their parents — life is so full of joy for these children. My prayer is that life stays as special for them in later years as it is now.

I have seen God at work during the past two weeks with so many people coming in to help with day to day tasks with Karen being out of the office. It is a joy to see people joining together to make sure “things” get done. We certainly miss Karen and will be glad when she gets back to work! Thank you to everyone who has been helping out. You have done a great job.

It is really nice to see God at work in so many individuals at Gashland. People are stepping up to help out with different tasks at church. People have been coming out of their “comfort box” to serve God and their lives are enriched because of it. Thank you to all the people who are serving God!

It is my pleasure to watch God at work in the lives of my family. It is no coincidence that our entire family worships together each week and get to spend time together on God’s day. I am so thankful that we share our faith with each other and our church familiy. I also keep praying that we’ll be the Godly parents and grandparents we’re designed to be – (and hope that I personally can be a better influence on my grandkids than I was on my own kids!!!).

Thursday was a amazing day at Bright Start Preschool where you could see God at work. Parents and grandparents had the opportunity to join their preschooler for a day of preschool. It was such a joy to see parents coming in with their preschooler who beamed with pride to be walking their parents into THEIR school. Parents were on the ground playing with their kids. Parents were talking with other parents and setting up play dates. You could see parents relaxing as the morning went on. Parents put cell phones away after a few minutes and focued on their preschooler. Lois did an amazing job with chapel. Never have we had such a big turn out for Family Day. Parents and grandparents stayed the whole time and people left with big smiles on their faces and the joy of a preschooler in everyone’s heart. Thank you to Gashland for having a preschool!

Today, April 8th, I had the privilege of witnessing God at work.
The day began when close to 100 people came to Bright Start Preschool for Family Day. It was very nice to see parents and grandparents who took time out of their workday to be with their preschoolers. Children truly are a precious gift from God.
Chapel Time was next with Miss Lois filling in for Pastor Paul, who wasn’t feeling well. The children enjoyed seeing Miss Lois again. Miss Lois invited the families to Worship and Sunday School.
As I was walking around from activity to activity I got to watch parents meet othet parents all because their children are friends at preschool.
I am very grateful to God for being able to be a part of this ministry of our church.

I saw God at work Saturday March 27 when there were 30 volunteers at the church helping to get the new playground area COMPLETELY installed/finished. It was wonderful to have so many people there helping in this endeavor especially when the weather was really yucky! We had parents of preschoolers, scouts and church members all working together.

It was great and the playground looks fantastic. I hope it will be a great outreach to our community as well.

I saw God work through the soul of a young man in our congregation (Garrett T.) as his heart was touched by the mission and ministry of Baby Grace.

After his involvement in the Baby Grace program at WOW he came back and approached both the Outreach and Missions committees here at Gashland UMC (www.gashlandumc.org) to see about arranging a presentation by one of the founders of the Baby Grace ministry at Buckner United Methodist Church (www.bucknerumc.com). Julie came and spoke passionately about their program and indicated several ways in which we could provide support or participate in their ministry.

God is truly working his miracles in our midst.

Last week, as I was preparing the order of worship for Sunday, I finished it on Tuesday and sent it forward to the rest of the folks who would put music and media and everything else togehter. It was to be Scout Sunday and, though much of what is done on that Sunday is common, there were to be some changes that Bob Stienebach, our Scout coordinator and I had discussed…though I guess my notes were not all there (and neither is my memory sometimes).

As soon as I sent it I left for lunch and was listening to some sports talk show on the radio and this song popped into my head; just the chorus…but it kept echoing, “There is none like you…no one else can touch my heart like you do. I can serch for all eternity long and find, there is none like you.” The song wasn’t in the service and I had no idea why it came into my mind…but it was persistent.

I decided to switch over to K-Love (97.3) which is the sation I usually listen to and as soon as I tuned the station, the radio started singing, “There is none like you >>>”; the exact same place as my mind was playing. I laughed to myself at the “coincidence” that I ALWAYS credit to God…because the God I love has an increidble sense of humor.

When I got back to my office, I had an e-mail from Bob reminding me of the music that the Boy scouts would be playing. I looked and saw that I had forgot to put into the bulletin, Garett Thomas’ offertory on his viola; “There is none like you…no one else can touch my heart like you do….”

I laughed and I know that God was laughing with me. It was a God Wink… God reminding me of a contribution of another faithful disciple, and helping we worship HIM at the same time.

It’s easy to see God in our Grandkids faces.

Last Saturday, Cheryl and I had the blessed opportunity to watch our grandkids (Parker Lee and Gemma Rose). We were there about fifty minutes and it was time to eat so we placed them in their high chairs and set them next to each other.

While we have had many family gatherings around our dinning room table, I believe this was the first time that they were right next to each other while eating. It was an amazing sight to watch each of them munch on chicken, carrots and potato casserole while peering at each other until their little tummies were full. It didn’t take long and the next thing we hear is Gemma blowing bubbles and giggling with joy over her accomplishment.

Naturally not to be outdone, Parker responds and soon both break out in laughter. This ‘communication’ continued for about thirty seconds with the occasional touching of little fingers and hands.

    Dear Heavenly Father,
I simply prayer that you protect these two little ones for all of their lives
Embrace them with your Grace and Love forever
Let them know the wonders of childhood
And feel your presence in their lives always.
    Amen.

I see God at work through the preschool teachers, Mary, Courtney, Dalynn, Anita and Debbie. Everyday when they get down on the preschoolers level and let them know what a great job they did, how supportive they are of the kids and how they love them. Each child leaves knowing they are special and that they matter.
