It was a good first meeting with some good discussion. It seems like we have a large project ahead of us in organizing this new structure, but as long as we are continuing to take steps forward, we will get there. We have a great team and I think with God we can do great things for the church.

I feel much better since we had our first meeting. I agree with Andrea that it does seem overwhelming to think of the work that is ahead of us. I was comforted by the knowledge that we have a great group of workers and Jeremy’s words that we do not have to do everything at once made me feel better. I think my biggest concern right now is making sure that all on the coucil have a working knowlwedge of how the model will work. I am glad David suggested that we make sure that the members are confortable with the model before we get going to fast. I do not want to leave anyone behind.

Thanks to Lee for this type of communication. I’m a first time blogger? I feel lucky to be among this talented group of christian that were selected for this service. With God as our pilot we can move forward and become great disciples for Christ and prayfully to the community and our own church family.

I completely agree with Lee about the leaders we have in place. I am thankful that John and Greg accepted our nominations to continue on with the work ahead.

I am feeling a little overwhelmed right now with the tasks ahead of us. Having been part of both the building team and vision team, however, I know that we’re following God’s plan.

I’m also excited about the personal spiritual journey God has planned for me through this whole process. I still have much growing to do.

It was very exciting to have the first meeting of the board and begin to talk through how we would develop the framework around which our Church will grow and minister to others.

I would encourage everyone to read John 13:12-17 and begin to think on how they can become the “Servant”.

The new Governing Board for GUMC met for the first time on Tuesday June 15, 2010.

Some very necessary business was completed as John Hamilton was nominated and accepted with a unanimous vote to be the servant chairperson. Also Greg Rackers stepped forward and accepted the position of Secretary.

We thank God for blessing Gashland with these two examples of true Servant Leaders.
